We help Americans tell their stories, in their own words.

Dan, Daisy & Joey

Dan Collison

Dan founded Long Haul way back in 1996 when he left a senior position at NPR to make socially-relevant radio documentaries. Since then Dan’s won almost every major award in the business for his work; he’s contributed to books and museum exhibits, taught journalism seminars, and developed our Impact Stories arm: a way for us to extend our storytelling skills to help other organizations and not-for-profits demonstrate their impact in the communities they serve. All this, and Dan’s also a really good cook — and head weeder of our two-acre native plant restoration at our home offices.

Elizabeth & Nutkin

Elizabeth meister

Elizabeth started her public radio career by sneaking in volunteer work on the then-fledgling This American Life website while posing as an up-and-coming corporate manager at the phone company. Since then, she’s produced independent stories for NPR’s national shows, for ESPN, and for dozens of GOOD corporate citizens. She’s worked in partnership with Dan Collison for almost 20 years, and is Long Haul’s editor, grantwriter, and creative guru. She also knows how to make bacon—literally. She’s Long Haul’s Guru of All Trades.
